Teaching Underwater Photography |
I am an avid technical diver with a love for photography. The areas where I really like to work are the deeper wrecks where the challenges of light present themselves but also the fact that the wrecks are more intact.
Presentations: I am more than willing to come to dive or photography clubs to give a presentation on some of the many wreck sites I have been to or on the practical and technical issues of photographing deeper wrecks. Please contact me more details.
Equipment: I use a Nikon D200 inside a Hugyfot housing. My workhorse lens is the Sigma 10-20mm which I find also gives me the opportunity to shoot some superb ultra-wide angles when topside, something a fisheye has limited application for. Strobes are 1 x Ikelite SS200 and 1 x Ikelite DS125 mounted on custom Loc-Line 18" arms.
Publications: I have had many pieces of my work published in dive magazines such as Dive, Diver and Sport Diver. In addition, my images were used extensively in the Deco for Divers book by Mark Powell. Finally, I have recently provided Global Underwater Explorers (GUE) with images for use in their Recreational Programme training materials including the GUE Recreational Training Manual
Training: I can provide training in underwater photography to cover the basics for someone who is on the road to exploring and capturing the underwater world, to the more advanced underwater photographer who wants to learn more about close-focus wide angle photography. More details can be found under the 'Knowledge Base' section linked above. In brief, this training can be one-to-one or to a club over a series of nights.
If you would like to see examples of my underwater photographs, follow the links to either Print Sales or Image Library. Alternatively, if you would like to contact me regarding a course in underwater photography, please use the contact link at the top and I will provide you with some more details.
